Habit
The 2” diameter, luminous orange flowers glow in the summer sun, and bloom from late spring through fall. Finely divided leaves on upright plants to 3ft or 4ft tall, with flowers on branching stems.

Sun/Soil
Full to part sun, well-drained soil.

Germination/Sowing
Seeds germinate best when started in flats in the spring and then transplanted out once soil has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. 

Growing/Care
Low maintenance. Deadhead plants for continuous blooms from early summer through fall time. Water occasionally during dry periods.

Harvesting
The aerial parts can be harvest for culinary use once the plants are 1 ft or more in height, the aerial parts are harvested for medicinal use during the blooming period.

Culinary Uses
Edible shoots are spicy and commonly eaten in Southeast Asian dishes. Edible flowers. Flowers are used as natural food colouring.

Medicinal Uses
Usefully medicinally as a digestive aid and liver tonic; for arthritis, and diabetes.

Other Uses
The flowers look luminous in bouquets. They are also used to produce a yellow dye.
